avast! Internet Security is the latest offering from avast! and offers users a chance to see how far this excellent security app has come.

Visually appealing

Traditionally here at Softonic we have a lot of time for avast! Internet Security, so we were really excited to get a look at the newest version. For starters, it looks really slick, with a slim-lined installation process, and a very user-friendly and clear interface.

Good installation options

Another nice addition that you'll notice when setting up avast! Internet Security is the option to install as the second line of defense on your computer. There are also plenty of installation options, which allow you to get the most from your anti-virus before it's even installed. Of course, there's also a default installation if the nitty-gritty's not for you.

Security improvements

What else does version 7 add to avast! Internet Security? Well, in the first place the developer assures us that there have been considerable updates on the security front, which is obviously what you want from an anti-virus. It also offers a nice Statistics module, as well as a comprehensive Support function that allows you to generate a support package to send to the avast! personnel who are trying to troubleshoot your problem.

New features

Two especially useful new functions in avast! Internet Security 7 are the AutoSandbox feature and the Remote Assistance. AutoSandbox allows avast! to automatically place any program it deems suspicious inside a sandbox, so it cannot do damage to your computer. You can edit the programs that are excluded from this behavior in the general settings.

SafeZone

avast! Internet Security 7's SafeZone is effectively an extension of the AutoSandbox features, but instead of allowing you to open files and run unknown programs, it provides you with an alternative desktop for sensitive transactions such as internet banking and shopping. As with the rest of avast! Internet Security, it's really easy to use - just click the large Switch to SafeZone button. If you'd like more control, you'll be able to tweak under the Sandbox Expert settings.

Firewall

Last but not least, avast! Internet Security's firewall is definitely worth a mention. Since for many users it's one of avast! Internet Security's most coveted features, you'll be glad to hear that it's been updated along with the rest of the program. With its 3 different risk zones and 5 different configurations sub-areas, even the most demanding users will be able to configure it to their liking.

EA’s Real Racing 3 released for Android, comes with crazy in-app purchases

Fans of EA’s Real Racing games will be happy to know that Real Racing 3 has been released for Android on the Google Play Store, bringing the newest entry in the beautiful circuit racing series to millions of users around the world.

EA boasts the largest roster of cars yet in the series, with over 45 cars from manufacturers such as Porsche, Bugatti, and Audi to choose from. There are a whopping 900 events available to take part in, on tracks from all around the world accurately adapted for the game, which is another feature players will see for the first time. Real Racing 3 is powered by the MINT 3 engine, which provides some sharp and impressive visuals – they’re not that different from Need for Speed Most Wanted’s graphics, but considering the latter was quite a good-looking game, it’s not actually an issue.

 There’s also an interesting new multiplayer mode – Time Shifted Multiplayer. According to the description, this mode allows you to play against your friends even when they are offline, apparently by providing computer opponents with the names and skills of your friends. I have no idea how this exactly works right now, but from reports it seems to be a half-baked attempt at making players feel like they’re always racing against human opponents.

  

 While the game is free, EA has implemented the most dubious form of in-app purchases (IAP) of any game on the Play Store. To keep cars upgraded and in good condition, players can buy those upgrades with real money, and while that is not a problem in and off itself, EA has also implemented timer-based upgrades. For example, one must wait from two minutes to buy a new car up to three hours to tune their cars, with the only option to skip these wait times being the aforementioned in-app purchases, which will put off a great deal of players in a heartbeat.

 But if you’re willing to look past the IAPs and horrendous wait times, you should have a great time with Real Racing 3. U.K. Internet service providers ordered to block three filesharing websites

The UK High Court has ordered BSkyB, BT, Virgin Media and three other UK broadband providers to block access to three music and movie file-sharing websites Kickass Torrents, H33T and Fenopy.

Judge Richard Arnold said  that these websites infringed 10 music companies copyrights on an industrial scale.

He granted an order to 10 record labels including EMI, Sony and Universal against six UK internet service providers requiring them to take measures to block or at least impede access by their customers to these three file-sharing websites.

"The orders are necessary and appropriate to protect the intellectual property rights of the claimants and other copyright owners." Judge said. The ISPs have been given 15 working days to block access to the sites. Each ISP will decide how to warn customers and subsequently attempt to curb alleged illegal file sharing activity.

Verizon decided to send a series of warnings to Internet users and after the fifth the alleged copyright infringer's Internet connection will be slowed significantly for up to three days.
